Senior Officers Assigned to Provinces
According to Nepal Police Headquarters, senior officers have been assigned to monitor local security preparedness and assess potential risks in each province:
- Sudurpaschim Province – AIG Himalaya Kumar Shrestha
- Madhesh Province – AIG Dambar BK (after completing district-level assessments)
- Gandaki Province – AIG Manoj KC
- Bagmati Province – AIG Siddhi Bikram Shah
- Karnali Province – AIG Sushil Singh Rathore
- Koshi Province – AIG Rajan Adhikari
- Lumbini Province – AIG Uma Prasad Chaturvedi (Operations Department Chief)
Each AIG has been tasked with reviewing security preparations, identifying sensitive areas, and coordinating with district-level security committees.
Focus on Sensitive Regions
Madhesh Province has been identified as one of the most sensitive areas for the elections. Security officials cited past election-related incidents and the timing of the Holi festival, which falls just two days before polling day, as potential risk factors for voter mobilisation and public order.
Strengthening Ground-Level Security
Senior officers will submit detailed security assessment reports after completing their field visits. Based on these findings, Nepal Police will finalize a nationwide security strategy for the elections.
Police officials have also issued instructions to boost the morale of personnel deployed on election duty and ensure better coordination among security agencies.
Army Support for Election Security
To reinforce security arrangements, Nepal Police have requested 2,800 pistols from the Nepali Army. The weapons will be used during the election period and returned after the polls conclude.
