Ministerial Decision Takes Effect

The Department of Foreign Employment (DoFE) issued an official notice on Sunday.

According to the notice, a ministerial-level decision made on March 1 has suspended:

  • Individual labour permits
  • Institutional (agency-based) labour permits

The suspension will remain in place until further notice.

List of Affected Countries

The temporary halt applies to the following countries:

  • Saudi Arabia
  • United Arab Emirates (UAE)
  • Qatar
  • Kuwait
  • Bahrain
  • Oman
  • Iraq
  • Yemen
  • Jordan
  • Lebanon
  • Turkey
  • Israel

Labour permits for employment in these destinations will not be issued by the department or its subordinate offices.

Why the Government Took This Step

Officials stated that the decision was made due to the evolving and potentially adverse situation in the region.

The government says the safety and security of Nepali migrant workers is its top priority.

Authorities are closely monitoring developments before making any further decisions.

Who Is Affected?

The suspension impacts:

  • Individuals planning to leave for foreign employment
  • Recruitment agencies processing applications
  • Workers waiting for final labour approval

However, Nepali workers already employed in these countries are not directly affected by the new order.

What Happens Next?

The government has described the suspension as temporary.

A new review will determine when labour permits can be issued again. Further updates are expected depending on regional developments.
