The Ministry of Health and Population has announced the launch of a nationwide Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination campaign aimed at preventing cervical cancer among girls.
According to the Child Health and Immunization Service Section under the Family Welfare Division, the campaign will be conducted from February 8 to February 27, although the exact date and time may vary depending on the local level. The Ministry said the vaccination schedule will be coordinated locally to ensure wider coverage.

The HPV vaccine will be administered at respective schools, nearby schools, or designated health institutions. Beneficiaries and their guardians have been advised to contact their local schools or nearby health facilities for detailed information regarding vaccination dates and venues.
The campaign targets all girls studying in Grade 6, as well as out-of-school girls aged 10 years. In addition, girls who missed the HPV vaccination during last year’s campaign are also included. This group covers girls currently studying in Grades 7 to 10 and out-of-school girls aged 11 to 14 years.
Health officials said the campaign aims to significantly reduce the risk of cervical cancer, one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths among women. By expanding vaccine coverage to those who missed earlier doses, the Ministry hopes to strengthen long-term protection against HPV-related diseases.

The Ministry of Health and Population has urged parents, guardians, schools, and other concerned stakeholders to ensure that all eligible girls receive the vaccine within the campaign period. Officials stressed that timely vaccination is a key preventive measure against cervical cancer and plays an important role in safeguarding future women’s health.
