🛫 New Leadership at CAAN
Dangol had already been serving as the acting chief of CAAN since December last year.
He previously worked as a Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation before taking over the temporary leadership role.
📌 Why the Position Became Vacant
The post became vacant after former Director General Pradeep Adhikari was suspended over a corruption investigation related to the construction of the Nalinchok helipad project in Bhaktapur.
The case is currently being handled by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).
⚙️ Role of CAAN
CAAN is Nepal’s main aviation regulatory body. It is responsible for:
- Airport management
- Aviation safety oversight
- Licensing and regulation
- Aviation infrastructure development
The appointment comes at a time when Nepal’s aviation sector is focusing on improving safety standards and expanding infrastructure.

✈️ Expectations Ahead
With new leadership in place, attention will now shift toward strengthening Nepal’s aviation system and improving overall air transport management across the country.
